GREENLIGHT #70: Invincible (with "Rudy" and "Semi-Tough")

Ann and Les felt invincible after seeing Invincible (2006.) Watching yet another football movie was nowhere near the top of their lists for things to do this year but this movie turned out to be the real thing. Mark Wahlberg is just fantastic as Vinnie Papale - the guy from the local bar who's really good at flag football and is convinced to give the Philadelphia Eagles a shot. He had no business being there and no business making the team and you cheer for him all the way. Greg Kinnear and Elizabeth Banks add much warmth to the already heartwarming story. For their GREENLIGHT Rentals, Les recommends the champion heartwarming unlikely football hero movie Rudy (1993) starring Sean Astin as the unlikeliest of walk-ons for Notre Dame's storied football team. Ann continues the football theme with Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson as professional football players duking it out on the field and cutting it up off the field with the owner's daughter played by Jill Clayburgh in the funny film Semi-Tough (1977.)
