GREENLIGHT #41: Friends with Money (with "The Group"and "Husbands and Wives")

Ann and Les are seething about Friends with Money (2006). How anyone involved in this movie looked at the script and thought it was worth a dime is beyond them. Both gave it a bright shining RED light. They particularly hated this film because it has such an easy premise with which to make a good film - friendship and romance. So Les recommends The Group (1966) and Ann recommends Husbands and Wives (1992.)

GREENLIGHT #40: The Sentinel (with "In the Line of Fire" and "The Fugitive")

Ann and Les enjoyed The Sentinel (2006) as a good old-fashioned good-guy-on-the-run movie. Both gave it a green. Les also recommends In the Line of Fire (1993) and Ann recommends The Fugitive (1993.)

GREENLIGHT #39: Lucky Number Slevin (with "Last Man Standing" and "Driving Miss Daisy")

Ann and Les love a good mystery but Lucky Number Slevin (2006) isn't one of the best. The script, they think, is quite one-dimensional. Both gave it a yellow. Meanwhile, Les much prefers Mr. Willis in Last Man Standing (1996) and Ann prefers Mr. Freeman in Driving Miss Daisy (1986.)

GREENLIGHT #38: Take the Lead (with "Dirty Dancing" and "Saturday Night Fever")

Ann and Les wanted to enjoy Take the Lead (2006) more than they did. It's a formula movie about a dance teacher who does good with problem school kids. Both gave it a yellow - it you like these kind of movies, they don't discourage you from this one. But if you're really looking for good "dance as a metaphor movies," then you can't go wrong with two of the best: Dirty Dancing (1987) and Saturday Night Fever (1977.)

GREENLIGHT #37: Thank You for Smoking (with "Fargo" and "Waiting for Guffman")

On this episode, Ann and Les split dramatically on Thank You for Smoking (2005). Les gives it a green and Ann gives it red! But, as always, they agree on their rentals: Fargo (1996) and Waiting for Guffman (1996.)
