GREENLIGHT #54: Click (with "Freaky Friday" and "Family Man")

Ann and Les only wish they had a clicker for Click (2006!) You've got to hear them on this one. The movie is terrible but their review is great. Hopefully, Adam Sandler and his buddy director Frank Coraci won't get any more work after this movie. (Though Ann and Les wonder are dismayed that they've gotten this far.) Meanwhile, for their GREENLIGHT Rentals, Les recommends watching Jamie Lee Curtis in the remake of the lighthearted and charming Freaky Friday (2003.) Ann recommends the versatile Nicolas Cage and the surprisingly funny Tea Leoni, in a great family friendly film Family Man (2000.)

GREENLIGHT #53: The Lake House (with "Somewhere in Time" and "Kate and Leopold")

Ann and Les found it difficult to stay awake during The Lake House (2006.) Even the house itself couldn't excite them since they never get to really see it. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock seemed equally bored. And everyone was confused by the time travel! The only interesting relationship was between Reeves and his father played by Christopher Plummer. But this was supposed to be a romance. So as you can imagine, they couldn't wait to talk about their GREENLIGHT Rentals. Les recommends watching Mr. Plummer with another Reeve, Christopher Reeve that is, along with Jane Seymour in the unabashedly romantic Somewhere in Time (1980.) Ann recommends Meg Ryan and her favorite, Hugh Jackman, in another wonderfully romantic film called Kate and Leopold (2001.)

GREENLIGHT #52: A Prairie Home Companion (with "Nashville" and "The Incredible Shrinking Woman")

Much to their surprise, Ann and Les LOVE A Prairie Home Companion (2006!) Neither even wanted to see the film because they're not fans of the radio program and thought the movie would be just as corny. Instead, both were hooked within the first five minutes. They thought the ensemble cast was fantastic with Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin leading the charming charge. So they highly recommend running out to see this movie. But when you've done that they have a couple GREENLIGHT Rentals to recommend. Les' is Robert Altman's other country music singing masterpiece Nashville (1975) and Ann's is a Lily Tomlin feature that was shunned by the critics (she thinks undeservedly,) The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981.)

GREENLIGHT #51: The Omen (with "Damn Yankees!" and "Devil's Advocate")

Ann and Les are not afraid to tell you that The Omen (2006) is a terrible movie. Well, Les is a bit wishy-washy because he gives it a pale flickering yellow because there are a few good "jump out of your seat" moments. But he doesn't recommend it overall. Ann agrees with his overall assessment. She gives it a red - even though she knows the devil likes red! For their GREENLIGHT Rentals, Les recommends having some fun with the devil in Damn Yankees! (1958) and Ann recommends Al Pacino's enjoyable over-the-top performance in Devils's Advocate (1997.)

Ann and Les don't break up over The Break-Up (2006) but they sure come close! Les found it real and somewhat charming. Ann thought the two of them should never have gotten together in the first place and reallly shouldn't bore us with their trivial problems after they did! For their GREENLIGHT Rentals, they both found better, they agree, break-up movies. Les recommends Cary Grant in The Awful Truth (1937) and Ann recommends the first Hepburn and Tracy film Woman of the Year (1942.)

GREENLIGHT #48: X Men: The Last Stand (with "Superman" and "Spiderman")

Ann and Les are of two different minds on X Men: The Last Stand (2006). Les liked the humanity of the mutants and the poiltical subtext of the story. Ann thought thinks the movie has no story and relies on ho-hum special effects. For their GREENLIGHT Rentals, they picked some biggies. Les recommends the first Superman (1978) and Ann recommends the first Spiderman (2002.)
